On 15 August 2026, a Lithuanian-registered Konner K1-S19 helicopter crashed into the sea in the Majori area of Jūrmala. The pilot was the only person on board and sustained no injuries in the accident.
Following receipt of information about the occurrence, the Transport Accident and Incident Investigation Bureau (TAIIB) initiated the necessary actions to establish the circumstances of the accident.
On 17 August 2026, the helicopter was recovered from the sea and transported to the TNGIIB hangar for further examination.
TAIIB has launched a safety investigation into the aviation accident. During the investigation, relevant information will be collected and analysed in order to determine the circumstances and causes of the accident.
As the investigation is currently at an early stage, TAIIB will not speculate on the possible causes of the accident. Information on the investigation findings will be provided as the safety investigation progresses.
