Accessibility statement

The Transport Accident and Incident Investigation Bureau is committed to making its website accessible in accordance with Cabinet Regulation No. 445 of 14 July 2020, “Procedures by which Institutions Place Information on the Internet” (hereinafter referred to as Regulation No. 445).

This accessibility statement applies to the official statistics website www.taiib.gov.lv.

The website has undergone a simplified accessibility assessment. The assessment was carried out using the “Guidelines for Assessing the Impact of Compliance with Accessibility Requirements for Institutional Websites and Justifying a Disproportionate Burden”, developed by VARAM.

The website was last assessed on 14 September 2026. The assessment was carried out by Signe Klusa and Santa Aveniņa.

Document supporting the assessment:

How accessible is this website?

The official statistics website is partially compliant with Regulation No. 445 for the reasons set out below.

Non-compliance with the requirements of Regulation No. 445

  • The alternative text for some images in news articles contains file names rather than meaningful descriptions of the images.
  • The heading levels on some pages do not follow a logical sequence.
  • Some website elements are not fully accessible and operable using a keyboard, and not all elements have a visible keyboard focus indicator.
  • Some system-generated elements and controls are not correctly recognised by screen readers, or their labels are in English.
  • In some places, the contrast between the text and background colours is insufficient.
  • When the text size is increased to 200%, some menu and content elements are not displayed correctly.
  • In the smartphone view, automatically changing content cannot be paused.

The Bureau will address accessibility issues relating to the content it publishes by improving image alternative text and correcting the heading hierarchy. Information about technical accessibility issues that cannot be resolved by the Bureau’s website administrator will be forwarded to the maintainers of the Unified Website Platform.
