On November 8, the largest and most technologically advanced indoor drone training center in the Baltics — “Drone House” — was officially opened at Patversmes Street 18, Riga. The center provides over 3,000 m² of indoor training space and approximately 2 hectares of outdoor area, allowing the setup of custom scenarios — including tactical elements, obstacle zones, and simulated infrastructure environments.
“Drone House” is designed as a training and testing facility for micro and small-class unmanned aerial systems, offering opportunities to acquire skills in piloting, maneuvering, and operational deployment under various conditions — including search and inspection missions, data acquisition, and communication support.
Representatives from the Transport Accident and Incident Investigation Bureau (TAIIB) attended the center’s opening event, emphasizing the importance of such infrastructure in strengthening capabilities for safety investigations and technical analysis. The Bureau recognizes significant added value in potential collaboration with the center — including the ability to use the facility for modelling technical circumstances and practically validating investigative scenarios, as well as employing drone systems for event reconstruction, evidence documentation, and terrain surveys under challenging conditions.
In the context of TNGIIB’s professional functions, such training and hands-on testing opportunities enhance the Bureau’s capacity to apply drone technologies safely and effectively in the investigation of transport accidents and incidents.
