MARTE seminars

On 23–24 October 2025, Liepaja hosted the practical seminar of the European Union project MARTE (Marine Technology Excellence Hub for Sustainable Blue Economy in the Baltics), which brought together innovation, research, and industry experts from across the Baltic Sea region. The project aims to promote technological innovation in the maritime sector, with a particular focus on renewable energy, maritime safety, ship operation, and maintenance.

During the seminar, representatives from public administration, industry, and academia shared their experience, vision, and challenges related to the implementation of new technologies and innovations in the maritime field. The discussion format fostered the exchange of practical knowledge and solutions, strengthening regional cooperation among Baltic Sea countries in advancing a sustainable blue economy.

Mr. Aleksandrs Pavlovics, Head of the Marine Accidents Division at TNGIIB, actively participated in the seminar by leading the thematic subgroup “Ship Operation and Maintenance”, where discussions focused on modern ship maintenance technologies, digitalization opportunities, and energy efficiency improvements in ship operations. Participation in this event further enhances the Bureau’s expertise and cooperation network in the field of maritime technology innovation and safety.
