The Transport Accident and Incident Investigation Bureau (TAIIB) has initiated a preliminary assessment in connection with a maritime accident that occurred near Skulte Port on March 3–4, 2026.

According to information provided by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), a report was received on March 3, 2026, at 22:40 about the vessel SCORFF, which had become stuck in ice near Skulte Port and developed a dangerous list. Considering the safety risks, a decision was made to evacuate the five crew members on board.

The evacuation was carried out by a helicopter of the Air Force of the National Armed Forces, and all crew members were safely transported to shore.

During the assessment, information will be collected about the circumstances of the accident, including the vessel’s activities in the port waters, navigation and ice conditions, as well as other factors related to the incident.

The purpose of the TAIIB safety investigation is to determine the causes of the accident and to contribute to improving maritime safety. The investigation is not aimed at determining fault or liability.
