From November 4 to 5, in Roskilde, Denmark, the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) Working Group on Aviation Accident and Incident Investigation Experts (ACC) held a workshop on the topic: “Investigating Accidents Involving New and Disruptive Aviation Technologies.”

The event brought together investigators from more than 20 European countries, as well as representatives from the aviation industry and academia.

The Transport Accident and Incident Investigation Bureau was represented by aviation accident and incident investigators Vilis Ķipurs and Laila Ločmele.

The main focus of the workshop was on the investigation of aviation accidents involving new and revolutionary aviation technologies — such as the development of electric and eVTOL aircraft, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), and the use of artificial intelligence and big data in safety investigations.

Participation of the Bureau’s representatives in the working group helped to strengthen international cooperation, gain up-to-date information on the latest trends in aviation safety investigation, and enhance Latvia’s capacity to investigate accidents related to innovative aviation technologies.
